  • Overview

    This position, located in our St. Louis, MO office, will carry out in vitro biological, cell biology, medicinal chemistry or biochemistry

    laboratory experiments under the supervision of a senior scientist with the goal of advancing

    internal and/or contract drug discovery projects. Other responsibilities may include

    administrative duties commensurate with efficient, effective and safe laboratory operations.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations
    • Carry out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies to carry out analyses
    • Prepare specimens and samples
    • Carry out chemical reactions/separations and determine chemical structures using analytical techniques
    • Maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment, for example centrifuges, liquid dispensers, plate readers and pH meters
    • Ensure the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced
    • Record and sometimes interpret results to present to senior colleagues
    • Use computers (Word/Powerpoint/Excel/GraFit) and perform mathematical calculations for the preparation of graphs
    • Follow strict safety procedures and safety checks

    Qualifications

    • B.S./B.A degree in relevant field with some laboratory experience.
    • For biologist/biochemist: some experience carrying out in vitro biological, biochemical, or immunological experiments
    • For chemist: 2 semesters of organic chemistry with laboratory and experience in organic synthesis
    • Ability to organize time, work under supervision and deliver high quality work product on time
    • Keep regular hours at work and focus on work while at work
    • Oral and written communication skills at a level commensurate with the job
    • Ability to handle confidential material
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Ability to work in a highly matrixed, high pressure, team oriented environment
